Day 2 - Marrakech

After a good night's sleep and Lily's early morning nap, we had breakfast in the courtyard of the riad. I had Jam and French Stick, whilst Lily was being entertained by the Riad staff in the kitchen. She seemed very reluctant to come and have her breakfast but soon cheered up when she got stuck into some egg and laughing cow soft cheese (possibly not suitable for babies??). We headed out for some sight seeing, starting at Palais el Badia. The ruins of the old royal palace. Frankly I feel the 10 dirham entry fee was worth it just to see the storks that nest atop the walls. Next on the list was the Saadien tombs. Again they were fairly interesting but nothing overwhelming. Very cute cats though. We decided as we weren't entirely sure how to get there that we would take a caleche to the Jardins Menara. Fairly easy to do with a buggy and baby as a taxi would have involved having to get the car seat. The gardens themselves weren't as great as we expected as its mostly olive groves. I think the Jardins Majorelle and Agdal may be a better visit and perhaps if we can be bothered we will check them out on our last day before the flight.

The caleche turned out to be a nice way to put Lily to sleep so when we got back we returned to earth cafe for lunch and then headed to the cyber park. The park was quite pretty and also had ramps where there were stairs-what a novelty. We went to the cyber cafe at the centre to check the email we needed to update our blog and have since realised that we probably won't be able to do the blog as it will cost too much! Sadly our original plan that would have allowed us to be connected failed. So we are almost barren of technology. We decided against trying to find the supermarket as we were tired and it would take too long and instead returned to the riad where lily had a play and is now sleeping whilst we watch some more dollhouse. This evening we are just going to let her have a little play here whilst Jon gets chips from the square before bed. We are both looking forward to getting to Taroudant and hopefully discovering a slightly less touristy morocco.
